Description
In all countries, the national flag is the single most important symbol of individuality and identity. Canada Post Corporation is proud to continue the tradition of featuring the Maple Leaf Flag on the 40-cent first class rate definitive stamp. Following last year's depiction of the flag against a blue sky, this new stamp features the flag against a background of mountain and forest. It is available in panes of 100 stamps and packs of 10 and 25 stamps. Accepted as a Canadian symbol long before Confederation, the Maple Leaf gained acceptance over the years through its use by national organizations and the military. Toronto designers Gottschalk + Ash International were responsible for all of the Flag stamp designs. This firm has created many other Canadian stamp designs including last year's "Quick Sticks" stamps pack.
