Description
For the first time in history, Canada has been chosen to be the proud host of the Olympic Winter Games. Almost 2,500 athletes from around the world will gather in Calgary and the nearby mountains to compete in internationally acclaimed facilities during the XV Winter Olympics. The Olympic alpine skiing events include downhill, slalom, alpine combined, giant slalom and super G. They will take place in Nakiska Centre, where Mount Allan has been transformed into one of the best downhill courses in the world. In this magnificent tribute to alpine skiing, Canadian stamp designer Pierre-Yves Pelletier captures the image of a slalom skier as he twists, turns and weaves his way toward the finish line at lightning speed.
